WACG is the oldest Arts Organization in the Grand Strand. Forty-nine area artists will be represented in this year’s show. This annual event is an opportunity for area artists and fine-craft creators to compete to have their handiwork put on display in our local museum. The best 70 items were selected from over 120 entries by this year’s judge, Lisa Stroud – a renowned artist from the Cary, NC area. The artwork will be on display from May 2 to 23, 2013.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception on Thursday May 2nd from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm at the Museum to meet the artists and the Judge. Over $2000 in prizes will be presented including the Rebecca Bryan Best of Show Award.

The Art Museum of Myrtle Beach is located at 3100 S Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach SC 29577, near the Springmaid Pier. Hours are from 10 am until 4 pm Tuesdays thru Saturdays and 1 pm until 4 pm on Sundays. On Mondays, the Museum is closed.

The Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild has become an integral part of the fabric of life here in Myrtle Beach. As the premier Arts Guild in the area, we have a long history bringing the arts to the community.

We plan to continue our 40 year tradition of Art in the Park at Chapin Park. We have announced six shows in 2012, with two of them at the new Market Common. This tradition not only provides avenue for local artists to display and sell their work, we bring vendors in from all along the East coast. Tourists plan their vacations to come to these events.

We also provide at least two other exhibits of art during the year. Our Spring Show in conjunction with the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum and our 43st Annual Fall Show. We have a long history of working with others in our community to keep the arts a part of the Myrtle Beach lifestyle.

We have worked to create public murals in the City and are always open to new projects that help improve the ambiance of our area.

Our eight programs we provide every year are open not only to our members but are also free to the public. We provide information and demonstrations on all aspects of the visual arts and fine crafts.

We have an annual art supply drive where we collect and distribute supplies to schools and community organizations. We feel that our guild has a strong relationship to with education in our community.
